The Devon-based family run business is this year supporting the Community Contribution Award.
Stonehaven Care Group was started in 1996 by Stephen Stone and has grown over 20 years to include care homes and specialist nursing across Devon and Cornwall.Together with his wife Dawn, Stephen wanted a career that was people focused.
Stephen said: “The diminishing numbers of older persons present in my own and my wife Dawn’s families, brought a strong sense of appreciation of the elderly, their personalities, knowledge, skills and experiences.
“I felt as if I wanted to be involved in providing good opportunities and choices for people who, particularly, were enduring any of the physical frailties of old age or effects of loneliness and isolation.”
“I am very lucky in having a wife who is so supportive, adaptable and hard-working and who was ready to join in with this new idea so we bought our first care home in Dartmouth.”
Since then, Stephen and Dawn’s two sons, Nathan and Ralphe, have joined the company and the group now has ten care homes within the family-owned group. Stephen said: “If one phrase might sum up the reason for our success, it’s probably the familiar one: ‘Quality Always Sells’.
” We respect the way staff are ready and willing to go beyond the call of duty and the impact they make on our behalf to all those families that entrust us with the care of their elderly relatives.”
“Because of our obvious interest and knowledge of the care of the elderly, Stonehaven are particularly pleased to sponsor the WMN Community Contribution Award 2017.”
